We address the challenge of enhancing FIWARE-driven collaboration between Europe and Mexico, based on the adoption, deployment and improvement of FIWARE in Mexico. This will be used as a framework to open up new horizons for future cooperation in the ICT domain.
All processes, tools, know-how and incentives will be defined, implemented and enforced to bring new Mexican players into the FIWARE arena, as well as create a sustainable collaborative environment between Europe and Mexico. The process will cultivate the conditions for support the FIWARE activities in Mexico, help it to go beyond the FIWARE Lab, and generate an effective bootstrap of a cohesive and growing innovation FIWARE-driven ecosystem.
The FIWARE platform provides a rather simple yet powerful set of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) that ease the development of Smart Applications in multiple vertical sectors. The specifications of these APIs are public and royalty-free. Besides, an open source reference implementation of each of the FIWARE components is publicly available so that multiple FIWARE providers can emerge faster in the market with a low-cost proposition.
Evolve the existing Mexican FIWARE Lab Node related activities towards a broader audience to engage and increase the number of innovators in the overall FIWARE Mexican ecosystem:
to help identify how FIWARE technology can be used to address specific requirements that developers, integrators, innovative services ´and applications´ providers are facing nowadays.
to stimulate uptake and provide confidence in the power of adopting open and standard APIs to develop innovative solutions for different vertical market segments. SMEs will have access to the FIWARE ecosystem with more market opportunities, including partnerships, ventures and increased visibility beyond borders.
A unique set of participatory, co-creative methods and people-oriented facilitation techniques to increase interaction among the events such as Open FIWARE camp MX-EU.
The Mexican FIWARE Lab Node is the second and most important FIWARE Lab node and the first instance of the FIWARE Platform in Latin-America. The Mexican Node is hosted in the INFOTEC Data Center with a Tier III, the most advanced Data Center in the Mexican Government. The Mexican Node has been designed taking into account the infrastructure of the Node in Europe in order to ensure the data, operation and network interoperability. The Node can be seen as the result of a very successful cooperation between Mexican and European experts in cloud, networks, security and software and hardware infrastructures.
The Mexican FIWARE Lab Node is now part of the network of FIWARE iHubs, offering teaching and training through dissemination events and it is active at fairs and congresses promoting FIWARE technology where it facilitates the presence of startups and SMEs.
An initiative to accelerate the market uptake of FIWARE technologies in Mexico, pioneered by the increasing engagement of stakeholders through specialized training of the most up to date FIWARE technologies, Working Groups and Open FIWARE Camps MX-EU.
