The FIWARE Open Day is the next great opportunity to make any company or institution very visible in a key initiative of European Commission DG CONNECT after the success of the first FIWARE Summit last December in Malaga, Spain. Organised by the FIWARE team in partnership with the FIWARE Foundation, the Open Day will be held in Brussels on 7th March 2017 at the European Commission Charlemagne building. It provides a platform for a global community of developers, entrepreneurs, experts and contributors to learn, to engage and to join the FIWARE ecosystem.
The motto of this event is “FIWARE is the open platform you should be in”
A common standard proves to be the key to enabling interoperability among players in multi-side markets, as well as portability of applications and solutions. FIWARE provides the needed open standardised applications and ready-to-use technology that enable any company to kick off smart solutions without having to start from scratch, saving time and resources. Moreover, FIWARE-enabled solutions are created in close collaboration with customers and third-parties, which guarantees a flexible approach that leaves more room for customisation.
Hundreds of companies in B2B, SMEs, startups and scaleups, and even for bigger companies have already joined FIWARE and the FIWARE Foundation. This global community provides a stream of innovative ideas and techniques that will support every step along the way until you achieve the goal of your company. For instance, open standardised application can help your company to reach a market of 500 million people.
What does the FIWARE Open Day offer?
FIWARE shows a practical example of cross-industry collaboration: shaping and creating new markets in areas that are open for fresh approaches and a mix between cooperation and competition. The smart sectors chosen by FIWARE are proving such vision. Within its three main areas of development –Cities, Agriculture and Industry– and through a cross-vertical focus, FIWARE can be best and easily integrated to other existing initiatives, ranging from sectoral innovation ecosystem projects to different PPPs. Around the FIWARE working model, shorter term industry objectives can meet longer term public objectives.
Companies, institutions and individuals attending this half-day event will be present at the first stages of the go-to-market for FIWARE, and will have the chance to debate with key stakeholders about the future of the ecosystem.
The Open Day will review the most important achievements of the FI-PPP, sharing essential lessons learned and presenting uniform business processes. The event will address new collaboration methods and accounting for concrete inputs, coming from the different programs and roadmaps. The event speakers will go over a growing ecosystem and will explore the opportunities offered by the open, standardised APIs for the development of the Digital Single Market and the European Industry 4.0.
What are the right market trends?
Businesswise and looking forward, FIWARE aims at the right market trends: open source in wider commercial uses; industrial innovation in transition; smart ICT purchases by customers, avoiding lock-in. And always providing adaptability to the business-to-business areas that matters the most, where its European origin and global reach give an innovative edge for the large, evolving markets, working public-private relationships and trust.
Who will attend?
The FIWARE Open Day will be gathering representatives from the European institutions and key players of the digitalisation of the Industry, including policy makers and the actors of the Industry 4.0.
